Help us protect our waterways after the fires with fungi!
As the rainy season nears, the Western US is threatened by widespread contamination from burned structures and likely unprecedented harm to sensitive ecosystems.
CoRenewal is researching ways that fungi can help using a novel technology called mycowattles.

Holistic MycoRenewal

With the rise of catastrophic megafires in California, there is a growing concern about post-fire toxic ash from wild/urban interfaces, and the consequences of this toxic ash-runoff entering the surrounding waterways. In response, there is a growing grassroots network that seeks to mitigate erosion, remediate toxins, and support post-fire ecological regeneration using fungi and other microbes.

Through this seminar, Maya Elson will leverage real-world examples, including CoRenewal’s efforts to explore fungal communities within an oil-contaminated region of Ecuador and research into post-fire restoration in California using belowground microorganisms, such as plant-supporting mycorrhizal fungi. In this online seminar, Maya will explore basic fungal biology, as well as cover techniques for mushroom cultivation, biofiltration, and bioremediation with fungi and bacteria.

Your Purchase or Donation helps CoRenewal:
- Research fungal and bacterial communities capable of biodegrading petroleum and rehabilitating petroleum-contaminated landscapes
- Investigate the use of mycorrhizal fungal spores to promote regeneration in post-fire landscapes
- Research how mycorrhizal fungi can be applied to improve the restoration of degraded and heavy metal contaminated agricultural soils
- Create more educational opportunities and build a network of mutual support for ecological projects
