This online MycoRenewal Course will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to the diverse and dynamic world of Mycology; from fungal biology, to cultivation techniques, fungi for food and medicine, and how to use fungi to regenerate degraded ecosystems. In this course, CoRenewal hopes to cultivate and reinforce a worldwide mycelial network of people from various backgrounds to come together in mutually beneficial relationships with one another and the natural world.

Beginner and Intermediate Mycologists welcome!

The course will meet online on six Thursdays 3-5pm PST/6-8pm EST on the following dates:

Session 2: Fire and Water: Post-fire Fungi and Mycofiltration
Session 3: Fungi for food and medicine 
Session 4: Mycoremediation
Session 5: Environmental Justice and Bioremediation

Post Course Integration: projects you can do at home, troubleshooting, networking and support

  • An online folder of readings and resources
  • Support from experienced mycologists
  • A network of fellow learners to collaborate with​

Assignments will guide participants in their own mycological journey as well as provide a forum for the exchange of ideas. Our experienced team of applied mycologists will provide guidance and insight.

Your Registration helps CoRenewal:

  • Research fungal and bacterial communities capable of bio-degrading petroleum and rehabilitating petroleum-contaminated landscapes in Eastern Ecuador
  • Investigate the use of mycorrhizal fungal spores to promote regeneration in post-fire landscapes
  • Research how arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi can be applied to improve the restoration of degraded and heavy metal contaminated agricultural soils.​
